Wat Burapharam

Enshrined within the temple is Luang Pho Phra Chiw, also known as Luang Pho Praji, a Buddha image in the Subduing Mara posture with a lap width of four cubits. It is believed to have been created at the same time as the founding of the temple and is regarded as the revered guardian Buddha of Surin, deeply respected and worshipped by the local people.

It was also the place where Luang Pu Dul Atulo, a highly revered meditation master of the Forest Tradition, once resided as the abbot. Today, the Luang Pu Dul Museum displays his lifelike statue and personal belongings, allowing visitors to pay their respects and reflect on his exemplary way of life and virtuous teachings.

City Pillar Shrine

The Surin City Pillar Shrine is a sacred place and a spiritual center for the people of Surin. It was built to bring auspiciousness and stability to the city. Enshrined within is the City Pillar made of Chaiyaphruek wood, ceremonially installed according to ancient traditions.

Housed within an elegant Thai-inspired architectural building, it is a place where people commonly come to pay respects and pray for prosperity, career stability, and success. It stands as an important landmark, rich in spiritual faith and a deep sense of pride for the people of Surin.

Surin National Museum

Located on Surin–Chong Chom Road in Mueang Surin District, it is an important learning center that comprehensively showcases the history, culture, and ethnic heritage of the people of Surin.

The museum features exhibitions on natural history, archaeology, and the way of life of the Kuy, Khmer, and Lao ethnic groups, as well as local arts and culture, elephant husbandry, and traditional handicrafts.

It is open to visitors from Wednesday to Sunday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (free admission). The museum is ideal for those who wish to experience the charm of Surin through stories of local wisdom in a warm, contemporary setting.

Huai Saneng Reservoir

Huai Saneng Dam, also known as the “Sea of Surin,” is a popular recreational spot for local residents. With its vast expanse of water stretching as far as the eye can see, it offers a seaside-like atmosphere right in the heart of the city.

It is ideal for relaxing in the evening, swimming, picnicking, or enjoying a romantic sunset. A long paved road runs along the dam crest, making it perfect for walking, jogging, or cycling while taking in the scenery. The area is also home to the Royal Pavilion of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra, the Princess Mother, which is open to visitors on special occasions. Surrounding the reservoir are restaurants, shops, and facilities for camping or small bungalow stays, ideal for those who wish to experience the nighttime atmosphere close to the breeze and the water.
