Paka-Am-Puel Rice

Is a traditional local white rice variety native to Surin Province along the Thai–Cambodian border. It is distinctive for its golden-yellow husk when fully ripe, resembling tamarind flowers—hence the nickname “Tamarind Blossom Rice.”

This rice is drought-resistant and naturally resistant to pests and diseases. The grains are long and slender; when milled into brown rice, they appear brown with a greenish tint. Its unique taste is soft, slightly sticky, and pleasantly chewy—similar to boiled corn. It is also rich in nutrients, especially GABA and dietary fiber, which offer multiple health benefits such as stress reduction and improved digestion.
